Never leave your dog in a car with the windows closed in hot weather. Your dog can easily die in such circumstances. On the other hand, don’t leave the windows open so far in a public area where someone could try to steal your dog. A prudent decision in very hot weather if you are not going to be in the car, is to leave your dog at home.
